[What would motivate DIRECTV to Farm out The NFL?] If demand for pay TV all in bundles has in fact peaked then no matter how much Direct TV pays the NFL for the rights to market Sunday Ticket it will not make more money without raising fees on existing customers which could then lead to more cancellations. Sunday Ticket has been available through direct TV for over a decade and it has yet to overtake Cable TV and is not likely to do so. But there is a huge demand for live NFL games and millions of potential customers who may want to get in on the action if it were available. A major indicator that Direct TV may be thinking in that direction is the addition of the connected TV apps. - Ryan Michael Downey, The Streaming Advisor [via/web:http://streaming-tv.us]
