US cord-cutting outpaces projections

The data released by eMarketer shows that overall, 186.7 million US adults are projected to watch pay-TV from cable, satellite or telco providers in 2018, down 3.8% over last year. That’s slightly higher than the 3.4% dip in 2017. Yet the number of cord-cutters will likely climb to 32.8% by the end of 2018 to 33.0 million, substantially higher than the 22.0% growth rate (27.1 million) projected this time last year. Satellite providers will have the biggest decline, followed by the telco IPTV sector. - Joseph O'Halloran, Rapid TV News [via/web:http://streaming-tv.us]
