As for a closed ecosystem, Amazon can make a claim for equality insofar as it allows apps. But it's comical how unequal and prejudiced the footing is. Even Apple gives apps space on the Apple TV's home screen; Amazon keeps them in a separate drawer. Amazon privileges its own content with "ASAP" service (though it's still unclear whether that system actually works), voice search, and doesn't make it explicit what content of its own is free and what must be bought. Maybe Amazon's ecosystem on the Fire TV isn't closed, but class warfare is alive and well. - Casey Johnston & Sam Machkovech, Ars Technica
