Pluto.TV is an ambitious undertaking. Funded with undisclosed millions from a broad collection of investors–including Nas’ Queensbridge Venture Partners, UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer and Omnicom Digital CEO Jonathan Nelson–the LA-based company spent over a year developing the technology before launch. The company has 30 employees, including 15 full-time curators who design the shows and channels culled from the Web. For now the service offers 85 channels with content sourced from YouTube, Funny or Die and QVC among others. Five more channels will be released this week. It’s all free and supported by the occasional interstitial video ad. - J.J Colao, Forbes
